Dialogue with time and AI | Art by Kipa
Art by Kipa – Dialogue with time and AI - open until 16th of August in our gallery
Closing day Saturday 16.8
Welcome 15 - 20 to meet Kipa and toast to the time and life!
Time is not only a movement forward – it is layering, fading, returning.
It is a scent that reminds you of something you no longer remember. Or perhaps not yet remember.
It is a silence that sounds like a voice left unsaid.
This exhibition is a personal journey with time – through memory and perception, through dreams and recollections, through what has been and what is yet to come. The artist does not offer clear answers, but creates a space – for each viewer to have their own dialogue with time.
The rise of artificial intelligence in our era is not merely a technological matter, but also an existential question. Will AI begin to do our work, live our lives? Is humanity – emotion, memory, the touch of a brush on canvas – replaceable? Or perhaps, on the contrary – does this era that shakes us only highlight more clearly the importance of art as a deeply human language?
The works in this exhibition have engaged in a dialogue with AI during the idea phase. Yet the artist has reflected on themes of the future, the past, and the state of being.
And the works themselves – they are still born entirely from Kipa’s own brush.
My exhibition this time is very personal. It clearly has two faces, two sides. At first glance they seem different, but in truth they revolve around the same theme.
What unites them is time.
Time – how it flies or races, brings us joy and sorrow, sometimes giving, sometimes taking away. And what will become of us when time is no more? Does an end follow a beginning? Or is every ending in fact the beginning of something new?
I felt this theme strongly while painting my darker-toned series Before or After. Perhaps it also reflects the restless energy around us – uncertainty, fear. Yet I believe there is no need to be overly afraid or worried – within the layers of time and in the cycle of life there is beauty and hope at every level.
The second, lighter and more dreamlike series was born in dialogue with both time and AI. I am fascinated by the rapid development of technology and believe there is no need to fear it here either. On the contrary – we should step boldly into collaboration and allow ourselves to be constantly amazed: what and how, where and to where, why and for what purpose… For me, the process of co-creating – or perhaps co-planning – with AI was truly exciting. Yet the brush remained firmly in my own hand!
This second, softer-toned series also emerged from sifting through my future memories and past dreams, and from an open dialogue with technology and AI. In these works I feel a strong, positive feminine energy – the energy of the women in my family, both younger and older. Before and after. Those who have been and those yet to come. Blended sincerely in the movement of time and love.
It is also a story of dreams that still linger in our minds like clouds. Of memories from when our feet were still in pink boots – yet firmly on the ground. Both have helped and guided us across the sea of life, through all times.
In this series is also one of my favourites – I Remember You Beforehand:
I remember you beforehand.
A picture that came from memory, but still awaits to be lived.
A future whose face I already know.
Time and love move in both directions.
