Aili Sture’s Solo Exhibition “In Process: A Journey of Acceptance”
The new year begins with a deeply personal exhibition rooted in lived experience. The exhibition approaches loss as a universal human experience — the moment when the passing of someone close leaves a void that cannot be filled. With it come inevitable questions: How do we move forward when someone who has been a source of strength is suddenly gone? How do we face the emptiness within ourselves and find a way to coexist with it?
Over time, a subconscious and chaotic swirl of thoughts began to take shape as conscious reflection, eventually leading Aili towards art. It was through the creative process, physical practice, and the act of bringing ideas and emotions onto canvas that she began a deeply personal yet universal process — that of letting go.
The artist’s works do not offer the viewer quick answers or universal truths. Instead, they carry a certain therapeutic quality: they invite us to be present, to sit with our emotions and allow them to emerge without needing to explain or justify them. In doing so, the exhibition stands in contrast to a contemporary culture of emotional numbing and constant busyness.
The works presented in the exhibition emphasise presence, slowness, and conscious acceptance. Letting go does not mean forgetting, but rather forgiving and coming to terms with what has happened. “In Process: A Journey of Acceptance” does not offer definitive truths, but invites us to pause for a moment and reflect on what truly matters in life.
“It is impossible to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.”

Aili Sture (b. 1 January 1991) is a visual artist and painter based in Estonia. She studied at Valga Basic School and Tartu Art Gymnasium and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Styling from the Estonian Academy of Arts.
She has also pursued further studies in Finland. Aili’s artistic practice is based on an intuitive painting process, with emotion and inner impulse at its core. Her works emerge spontaneously, drawing on a limited colour palette and focusing more on conveying emotion than on technical perfection.
Her works have previously been exhibited as part of Valga Art Month, while the pieces presented in this exhibition were created over the course of the past year.
